California’s toxic waters make for toxic shark

In June 2013, a fisherman reeled in a 1,300-pound female mako shark off Huntington Beach. The shark, according to the paper, had levels of DDT, PCBs and mercury hundreds of times higher than the legal seafood limit – toxins it collected by feeding in Southern California waters.
